A message from CUPE 387 President, Michelle Edwardsen:
At the June General meeting a motion was passed to strike up a Political Endorsement Working Group comprised of rank-and-file members from CUPE 387. The CUPE 387 executive extended an expression of interest to the membership to apply to participate in the Political Endorsement Working Group. Through an interview process, the executive appointed 4 members from various departments with varying employment statuses (Regular Full time and Auxiliary) to bring a range of perspectives from across the CUPE 387 membership.
The Political Endorsement Working Group created an initial questionnaire that was sent to all declared candidates running in the 2026 Municipal election inviting them to apply for an endorsement from CUPE 387. Interviews were then scheduled with all candidates that submitted a completed questionnaire.
The Political Endorsement Working Group focused on issues they felt had the largest impact on the membership; physical and psychological health and safety, precarious work and protecting public services. The following candidates demonstrated a strong understanding of the issues and a commitment to continued communication and progress on these issues.

Councillor: Tasha Henderson, Bereket Kebede, Peter Jorgensen, Dalia Al-Hussaini, Jaimie McEvoy, Kane Tse.
I would like to thank the members that participated in the Political Endorsement Working Group for stepping forward and representing the CUPE 387 membership during this process. They showed commitment and integrity throughout the entire process.
